Veraguas is one of the 10 provinces of Panama.
Its capital is SANTIAGO. This province covers 10,630 km2 and its population was estimated in 2010 at 226,641 souls.
The name itself of VERAGUAS comes from the spanish ” ver” (see) and ” aguas” (waters): this is the only province of Panama with coasts on both sides of the isthmus.
The SANTA FE national park is a pearl of the Panamanian nature attracting adventurers looking for real wild paths. One can also appreciate endemic orchids, non typical birds as the “warn throat” colibri but also tapirs, as well as trees keeping their leaves all year long and helping water falls to stay at same level most of the time.
Veraguas has also a sea treasure with its 40 islands including the famous Coiba (national park), Cebaco and 8 other protected areas.
Coiba offers the second coral reef of central west north Pacific ocean.
The SANATA CATALINA village and beaches is the world’s famous spot for SURFING. Mariato, Malena and Torio are the most popular beaches.
From Santa Catalina one can go fishing (VERY good catches) but also go SCUBA DIVING to COIBA with the local scuba diving clubs.
